←Day 2 Part III - The Drive to Kishanpur
Our Weekend Trip to Dudhwa : Day 2 Part IV - Machaan at Jhadi Taal, Kishanpur
So with the excitement on seeing a new forest, we entered the Kishanpur WLS, and it was pretty beautiful. It was surprising how the forest was different from Dudhwa in spite of being so close to it, the trees here were not as tall, and not as dense, giving it a more open appearance.
Kishanpur WLS
The best part about Kishanpur WLS is the beautiful wetland called 'Jhadi Taal'. It is an extremely important site for the highly endangered Swamp Deer and Bengal Florican.

Barasinghas of Jhadi Taal
Jhadi Taal has perhaps the single largest single population of Swamp Deer in Uttar Pradesh, totalling about 400 individuals.
To top it, the Taal has lovely watchtowers around it.

How many Barasinghas (Swamp Deers) can you spot
The Barasingha, classified as Vulnerable, is found only in few fragmented localities in north (including northeast) and central India, and southwestern Nepal.
And the rarities were not finished, we were fortunate to see the playful ambling of a group of Smooth-coated Otter along the vegetation of lake on the far side.
